PHP 5.3 and Windows

This won't affect all of our customers, but we felt that it was prudent to share with everyone some information recently relayed to us.

To make a long story short, if you run Windows + IIS, we recommend that you do not upgrade to PHP 5.3. ionCube has released Windows PHP 5.3 loaders, however they will not support PHP builds that are built using VC9 compiler (which is what is used for the current releases on php.net for IIS). They expect to release an update sometime in first quarter of this year.

See this topic for more information: http://forum.ioncube.com/viewtopic.php?t=3094

Thank you to OutsideOfDreams for pointing this out.

(Note that if you are not using Windows, this does not affect you, you can run whichever PHP version you like)

Calendar navigation bug

Error when merging topics

Slashes in URL cause errors

To upgrade from 2.0.4 simply upload the upload/admin/ folder to your site, and then run the normal IPB upgrade routine (/admin/upgrade/) choosing CommunitySEO application when prompted.
If you notice broken urls when you are done, rebuild the furl cache under manage applications in the acp afterwards.

If you still have trouble merging topics, you may need to manually reimport the "communityseo.xml" hook file in the ACP under Manage Hooks.

Upgraded to CommunitySEO 2.0.4

We have (after several "internal" releases that didn't work out so well) finally got a package we feel resolves the various bugs reported by our users, especially with search. We've upgraded to IPB 3.0.5 and CSEO 2.0.4 here on communityseo.com for testing.

Please take a few moments to test out the new release and verify any bug fixes you are waiting for are properly resolved. We have specifically focused on invalid characters in the URL (gallery links failing, search links with date filters failing) and search issues (selecting forum or date filters causing problems, and searching with special characters).

If no further issues are reported, we will release CSEO 2.0.4 either Sunday Jan 24 or Monday Jan 25.

CommunitySEO 2.0.2 is available in your client area for immediate download. Version 2.0.2 fixes some bugs reported since 2.0.1, including

Certain special characters in topic titles or searches would cause infinite loop redirects

Page titles pulled automatically from posted urls in different character sets could cause ? characters

Non-alphanumeric characters in meta keywords tags would be stripped entirely

We have also nailed down the cause of the tasks getting disabled to a couple bugs in IPB.
CommunitySEO 2.0.1 Released

A couple of minor issues were identified with the 2.0.0 final release last week which have been corrected, and rolled up into CSEO 2.0.1, which is now available in the client area. The issues, which largely did not affect functionality, are as follows

The board footer version reflected "RC4". While this was ONLY the version number (the code was still the latest copy, except for this string), it caused confusion amongst many users and has been fixed.

The instructions file was empty. This was a problem with the encoder, and I've verified the instructions txt file is populated in the rebuilt package.

The tasks were disabled in the system scheduler. I've found that IPB disabled the tasks (though not why), but to counter this I've added a small query into the upgrade routine which will re-enable them.

You can download 2.0.1 from your client area. Just upload the files (except for the sitemap files and the .htaccess) and run the normal IPB upgrade routine to upgrade CSEO.

Thanks to the early adopters for finding and reporting the issues, and for showing patience while we got them sorted out.

CommunitySEO 2.0 RC5 Available

RC5 of CommunitySEO 2.0 is now available to those wishing to test it out. If you have already sent a request through the ticket system to receive the beta, we have updated the original zip file you were given a link to. If you would like to test RC5 on your site, please send in a ticket through the ticket system.

If you are upgrading, simply upload the files in the zip to overwrite the existing copies on your server, and upgrade the application through IPB's application management panel.

While we advise you that this is still a pre-final release, we do feel that it is relatively safe to run on your life IPB3 installation. Be aware, however, that support may be slow, so if your site is mission-critical and you are unable to diagnose and fix any bugs that may come up yourself, you may wish to wait for the final release.

We expect this to be the last release candidate of CSEO 2.0. The final version should be the next release.

Discount reminder: We have extended the discount for CommunitySEO. You can currently enter discount code "CSEO2.0" and receive $20 off the purchase price of CommunitySEO (making it only $70). Be sure to take advantage of this offer now, as this discount code may not be available much longer.
