I've just read an article on The Admin Zone which is a good resource for community forums owner. The article is named : To mod_rewrite or Not to mod_rewrite and if i'm posting it here it's because I'd like to know what customers think about it, on one hand, and what IPB SEO developpers could say, on a second hand.

Noting that the topic is roughly a year old, I'm sure most of the information applies (we're still using the same internet after all).

Ultimately, it's up to you. It has been shown by many, however, that friendly urls generally rank better than similarly themed sites that don't use friendly urls. There's never exact comparisons. You don't have identical sites (well, some experts do actually), so it's hard to say what would happen if you did something different. For the most part, however, rankings tend to go up after you use friendly urls (provided you do it right).
