Hello,

everything is in the title : IPB 3.0 will arrive soon (in few months - before the end of 2008).

Search engine friendly URLs will not only make your community more interesting to search engine spiders but allow for more human-friendly linking.

Untill we know what features IPB will offer, I wouldnt stress out. Friendly URL's are just one part of what we offer.

Errr, I'd tend to disagree. The first release will be full of bugs (happens to all software) but IPS has a pretty good track record on security.

Exactly. Right now we can't comment much on what will happen because we don't know any details. What does IPS consider friendly urls? "topic-t1.html"? "topic_title-t1.html"? Will they put the title into the page name? Will they support subfolders for forums, fixing image and javascript paths? What about the other sections of their site (profiles, help files, etc.)? What about components?

What about nofollow, trackbacks/pingbacks/etc., google sitemaps? Will you be able to 301 redirect the old urls to the new urls, and what about the lofi version?

If IPS weakly implements the friendly url functionality, that could actually improve our position by giving us more flexibility in working with the url rewriting. We'll just have to wait and see. smile.gif When there's an actual alpha or beta of IPB 3.0 available we'd be happy to comment further, but at this point I don't think you have much to worry about.

Thank you a lot for your answers wink.gif

I'm developping actually a community website based on Invision Power products (Board, Gallery, Blog, Download), and I'll wait the release of IPB 3.0 to decide if I'll install CSEO or not.
