CommunitySEO supports Google Analytics, a free statistics and tracking script from Google that will show you some statistics about your visitors, links they click, and so forth.

Firstly, you need to setup your Google Analytics account here.

Then, you'll need to add your site to your account - you'll be given a code and you are expected to go add the code to your site, and then verify it in your Google Analytics account. After they give you your code, just set it up under Components -> CommunitySEO -> Miscellaneous Settings "Google Analytics Account". You can also elect to track external links from the same place.

Afterwards, it will take a little time before any data is available to look at, but if you check back in a week or two you'll be able to generate some graphs and reports. If you click View Reports, you'll see 4 graphs on your home page (assuming you've not reconfigured the default view) showing you things like geo-location, unique visits vs pageviews, and source (links to your page vs direct visiting).

There is a Conversion summary, a Marketing summary and a Content summary view of the data, showing you various statistics about visitors, how they reached your site, and links they followed to leave your site. There is also a Site Overlay tool that allows you to view the click rates of various links on your site. While the concept is neat, I didn't find it to be overall very useful - other than to confirm how your site appears to Google.

Above the left hand navigation there is a drop down allowing you to change the view. Marketer has some marketing based data, and Webmaster has data more relevant to the webmaster of the site (who doesn't need to know about keyword conversion rates, for example). Much of the reports and data are shared amongst the views, however in many cases it's presented differently.

Under the Webmaster view, the "Web Design Parameters" dropdown allows you to view the basic statistical data about your visitors that is useful in ensuring your site caters to the most common visitors: browser, OS, browser + OS combo, screen resolutions, screen colors, languages, java support, flash support, and connection speed.

It's important to note that when viewing many of these pages, links and buttons (i.e. this button: Posted Image) are often clickable with more options. Sometimes you can chart data over time, and sometimes you can break out keywords by browser or other characteristics. Click around and look at the various pages/filters/charts you can generate by doing so.

At the bottom left of the navigation, you can also quickly access all reports from one point. The link titles generate drop down menus that allow you to pick out which reports to run (Marketing Optimization and Content Optimization).

You can export the data in multiple formats including tab-delimited, XSL, XML, and you can print the charts directly from the webpage.

What you get out of the tracking will largely depend upon your goals, and how much data is logged to work with. The busier your site, and the more you study the statistical data being supplied, the bigger the picture you will be able to paint.

And never forget that Google does have helpful KB and FAQ links inside Analytics, and a "Help Topic" blurb at the bottom of nearly every page to get you going.
