Depending on your server it should auto generate them after a few task runs. If not, upload them to your /forum directory and point google webmaster tools to sitemap_index.gz it will then point it to the others. Its redundant to add the others to google. You may have to chmod your sitemap files.

The file you would submit to google is generally

http://yoursite.com/forum_path/sitemap_index.xml.gz

or if you disable gzip for the sitemaps

http://yoursite.com/forum_path/sitemap_index.xml

Perfect, many thanks for your response. I've uploaded the files in the root of my IPB and made the required settings in Google/ webmaster/ tools.
As far as I can see i can only set one sitemap there. What do i have to do with all the other sietmap files?

The sitemap index file follows Google's specs for a sitemap index file - it points to the other sitemap files and Google can find them automatically.

You don't have to do anything else. smile.gif
