We are pleased to announce the release of CommunitySEO 1.2.0 Final

Let me take this opportunity to thank all of the users who, against all good suggestions given by anyone running a major site on the internet, went ahead and installed the beta copy up on their sites to help us quickly hammer out any issues in this last release - thank you for helping us make this software as bug-free as possible!

1.2.0 Final is available in your client area by downloading the main package.

The following bugs have been fixed in 1.2.0

There are also several new features and changes in this release. Below is a list of the new features in CommunitySEO 1.2.0

Some of the changes are relatively big. I've added a couple of FAQ entries on how to use some of the new features, and we've added a new forum to assist with custom url rewriting.

If you have any trouble with this release please feel free to submit a ticket. Upgrade instructions are included under the Documentation folder with the download.

Um, before I upgrade.. This works on IPB 2.2.x Right? It's working now, but on the download I only see a 2.3 folder so I just wanted to make sure of things before I do this. Also, changing the redirect.php file is going to screw up some things and probably cause some missing links, is it possible to make a copy of redirect.php and name is ipb_seo.php just to ensure no broken links?

I also noticed that it looks like you used the same "similar topics" code from the mod on invisionize.com and they conflict. Will uninstalling my Similar topics mod screw up anything?

Oh, and does the upgrade exclude any custom edits to the index.php file I made to use the unreal portal?

could you please tell us which files have to be adjusted that the new version works properly?

Uhm, I cant find the file edit needed in sources/lib/func_boardstats.php.

I also have problem with .htaccess , before upgrading I have in the .htaccess "DirectoryIndex index.php?autocom=portal" which worked fine but not anymore?

I recommend to everyone that they make a backup of their .htaccess file before the upgrade!!
Any custom edits to that file will need to be manually transfered over to the new .htaccess file.

Are there any differences between 1.2.0rc1 and 1.2.0?

and there should be FAQ what files need changes!

I've installed yesterday RC1 and what? I have to reedit everything and recheck if files needs editing?
That will take more time than fresh installing on fresh IPB :/

To upgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.2.0 do the following:

Upload all of the files from your /upload folder.

Visit the install/upgrade routine in your browser at yourdomain.com/seo_install/index.php
Login to the installer with a root admin account.
Perform the base upgrade

Verify the file edits in Installation.html against all of your files. Several have changed.

It would be nice to have a list of things that changed, however.

It should work on 2.2, however for the 1.2.0 release I have only tested the latest versions of all IPS software. The latest versions of all components are required (due to the automodule / autocom differences IPS has made). From what I've seen, the 2.2 and 2.3 IPB versions are extremely similar, and it should work on both.

You cannot change redirect.php to ipb_seo.php - there is already a file by that name in the folder. This was a specific request so that the user understood they were about to be redirected. There should be NO indexed links to this file (because it purely does a 301/302 redirect off to another location) so there should be no broken links or anything of that sort. In the rare event that there is a link to this file, ipb_seo.php 301 redirects the user to the new redirect.php.

These links were written on the fly, so there shouldn't be anything saved pointing to the file.

We did not use the same similar topics code as any modification exactly. unsure.gif I believe the Sphinx code is similar, because the guy that helped us test it out also provided it to another author of a similar topics modification. I can't tell you if uninstalling a 3rd party mod would screw anything up, because I don't even know what was done to originally install it. Generally, if you uninstall it properly, nothing should be affected.

There are no changes to the edits in index.php between 1.1 and 1.2.

Depends on what version you are coming from. From 1.2.0 Beta/RC the only change during these stages was an update to action_admin/rssexport.php. If you are coming from 1.1.4, you need to make a small update in ipsclass.php, change the second block of code in topics.php, and add the edit to rssexport.php. Virtually all of the rest of the modification code is the same.

It is there, unless you've already made that change. This line didn't change in 1.2 from 1.1.

Did you re-add that code back into your .htaccess when uploading the new one? Please use the support forums if you require support. smile.gif

I apologize, yes, this is good advice.

All you need to do to upgrade from an RC release is upload the files. There is no upgrade routine and no file changes you need to perform (in this case). I usually point them out when there are.

If you do a full upgrade of IPB to 2.3.4 you will need to reapply all of the edits. I know IPS has an upgrade pack but unfortunately I don't know which files are in it, so I can't tell you exactly which files you will need to reapply edits to.

As for CSEO, see my reply above on which files changed.

I'm interested mainy in only upgrade from 2.3.3 - cseo 1.1.4.P1 to 2.3.4 - cseo 1.2.0
using the small pack from IPS and if possible from Your side.
I think such instruction will be very usefull for many CSEO users

thanks in advance,

Unfortunately, like I said, I'm not sure what changed in the IPS 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 pack however. unsure.gif
