We are pleased to announce that communityseo.com is now running 1.2.0 BETA.

We have not yet released 1.2.0 for others to test, as we'd like to have it run on our servers for a couple of days first to make sure no major bugs crop up. We will likely release 1.2.0 early this coming week.

The following bugs have been fixed in 1.2.0

• Search not working properly with non-latin characters
• Similar topics producing bad results
• FAQ entry added regarding a Gallery bug bad link / CSEO interference
• Forum categories do not show meta tags
• Unable to remove a blog from your favorites
• Parent forums do not show the inflated topic/post counts from child forums properly
  
• Inflated stats can show users in areas they are unable to access

There are also several new features and changes in this release. Below is a list of the new features in CommunitySEO 1.2.0

• Page links for trackbacks
• Whitelist for nofollow & filter outbound links internally to not nofollow/filter
• Two additional meta tags
• Ability to ping Google/MSN/Yahoo/Ask when sitemap is rebuilt
• Ability to edit robots.txt and .htaccess in ACP
• Ability to select forums to exclude for similar topics
• Component links rewritten with names/captions/titles in them
• Friendly url for lost password link
• Control groups that inflated users are pulled from
• Forum name displayed for similar topics + similar topic template extracted
• Attachment links made friendly with filename in url
• Trackback whitelist and blacklist auto approval and denial
• Ability to dynamically set keyword + description meta tags
• Ability to add keyword/meta tags to other components
• Rewrite links from RSS export
• Redirect outbound links through redirect.php instead of ipb_seo.php
• Ability to use "virtual folders" for forums and topics
• Ability to configure page name for IPB Portal and forum index (or to remove page name so that site.com/forums/ is the index page)
• Ability to 301 redirect requests for printable topic pages to full topic
• Ability to add social networking links to other components
• New plugin functionality to rewrite other modification and component urls through CSEO

Some of the changes are relatively big. I've added a couple of FAQ entries on how to use some of the new features, and we've added a new forum to assist with custom url rewriting.

Request feature : I'd like to have the possibility to make a link on one or few keywords automatically.

Example : imagine my site is about video games. Each time a member would write "video games" or "games" it would automatically link to the root url, or a specific topic or forum, or a partner etc.
Would be useful for ranking

Not a bad idea. Could tie in with this suggestion about the links. It's not likely to be in 1.2.0 however, since this version is finished, but will keep it in mind for a future version.

Well, so far so good. Haven't had any reports of any problems so I'll shoot for a release in the next day or two (a release I'll mark beta, just so everyone realizes it could use some more testing ).


Those of you using other operating systems WILL need to update the .htaccess code. We'll need to update our FAQ for the appropriate htaccess code for those other OS's.

and of course other www servers like nginx

I take it there wont be a Tag Cloud System in this release? That was one of the best requested features. Is there anyway to get a version of this that doesn't include the padded stats or similar topics? Similar topics still produces unsatisfactory results and I was really looking towards a tag system that could replace similar topics.

1) You can disable padded stats and similar topics already by setting the multipliers to 0.

2) Tag features will be added, as linked to earlier in this topic, as a separate module so those that don't want it don't have to have it, and so it can be maintained separately.

Can we get the install your killing us

The beta is available in the customer forums. I expect the final to be released this weekend at this point. Couple of minor issues have come up, but nothing major.

It's the weekend and Sunday is coming to an end, sorry to ask wheres is the 1.2.0 Final release?
Or is there still some issues to resolve before releasing?

I hate to rush things like this. I released Beta 2 with all the bugs fixed reported (at the time I released it). If nothing else, or nothing else major, comes up I will label it Final pretty soon.
